Sittard-Geleen Hospital – Panorama

I took this panorama yesterday when I was going to Geleen. Usually when I’m stitching hand held pictures into a panorama, I found it more difficult than from a tripod. This time Photoshop have done a great job! As I’m editing these images I’m thinking to go to city center. I was curious about the carnival and I wanted to see what’s going on there. It was drizzling a bit, so I was hesitating. If I had a Pentax K3, K5, or any high end Canon camera I wouldn’t care about the weather because these cameras are weather sealed.

At the end I decided to go. When I came to city center I was a bit disappointed that there wasn’t much going on. I expected a lot of people, music on the stage, people dancing, but instead it was more chilled out. I suppose people are saving their energy for tomorrow.

I took a lot of pictures from different angles at different settings, and I think I’ve tried almost every technique that I know to take a good shot…Some pictures came out very nice but nothing that will trigger my emotions to the point of sharing the picture with you. A lot of them will simply look better without people and mess on the ground.

So It was an easy choice to select a picture for tonight. I like the simplicity of this panorama and the perspective. The garage under the ground and the stone wall works well in this image.

I hope you like it too. Please if you do share it with your friends and give it a thumbs up.

Cycling At Sunrise

Today morning I got up 5:30, restless and ready to go out. It was still dark outside but the sky was clear. I grabbed something to eat and I was on my way. I headed down to Geleen. I wanted to see the area around Hospital and hopefully take some nice photo’s there. I locked my bike in front of the main entrance from where I took my first shot. It looked awesome with all the lights, nice and bright. Then I decided to walked back little bit until the bridge from where you you have a great view of the Hospital. Perfectly aligned with the road down bellow, I took few long exposure shots. Nice light trails all the way across the photo with the Hospital in the background.

By the time the Sun has raised I was waiting on the other side of the Hospital, facing the Sun with 55-210mm lens, zoomed all the way in. Few seconds after I set up my camera and tripod, I see this lady cycling in to the frame. I waited for the right timing and I took this shot. The picture was a bit brighter, but I knew that I can reduce the exposure in post processing. Then I took another two shots, one underexposed and one normally exposed to have all of the dynamic range covered.

Cycling back home, I was very exciting about this shot. You know the feeling when you just know that this is the picture that you came to the location for. It is a great feeling.

I hope you like this image too, please give it a thumbs up…:)

127/365 View From Kollenberg

View From Kollenberg

What a day today!!! After a nice meeting with some very interesting people, I went to Kollenberg to take a picture of this beautiful sunset. As I’m walking up the hill, I’m listening to my favorite music from Mac Miller and I’m chilling out big time. Thinking of ways to capture this wonderful moment.

Today I’ve learned how to use HDR pro in Photoshop and so I thought this could be an opportunity to try it out. The Sun was still too bright for only one exposure. The foreground was almost black when I normally exposed the image. So there was no other way than to take multiple exposures. Sometimes you can get away with only one image if you are shooting RAW and then drop down the highlights and increase shadows to bring light to the foreground. Another way you can use in Photoshop is to blend images to get the result you want. I was using both of these methods. I think using HDR pro in Photoshop is way better than just blending images, which is time consuming and you will never get as much of details as if you use HDR pro. It takes all of the exposures and creates this huge super 32 bit RAW file, which can be send to Lightroom for the classical editing. I love it…The amount of details in 32 bit Raw file are incredible. Of course you can’t really see it on this image because it has been resized, but at 100% it’s mind blowing.

I hope you like this image please if you do, give it and thumbs up and share it with your friends…

Bergerweg Sittard – Traffic Trails

Finally I’m getting into long exposure photography a bit more. I promised myself that throughout this project I will learn some techniques that will help me to understand how this whole process works and how to create strong and vivid long exposure images. Since my first shot from the day 4, I’ve created pretty good workflow in Lightroom 5 and Photoshop CS6. To speed up post processing even more, I’ve created few starting point presets that help me to get general idea on how I want the image to look like. Still I feel like it’s not quite as great as It could be. I’m now learning how to perfect that crystal clear look some other professional photographers have in their images. and how can I take the whole thing and twist it to my own. In other words, how to create my own identity plate in this king of photography. I feel like I made a huge step, considering that I only started with long exposures 122 days ago.

Anyway, I hope you like this image, please if you do let me know and give it a thumbs up.

Rijksweg Zuid – Light Trails

Finally! I had this place in mind since I started this project! For many it may be nothing too exciting, but I found this place to be quite remarkable! First I like how the bridge is line up with the road down bellow, and the second it’s a perfect place for long exposure shots. If you go there on Monday 7 in the morning it’s busy as hell. No waiting time for cars to come.

Another thing that got my attention is that you can do long exposure shots of passing trains. It can be done in a way that you get the train passing and the road down below in one frame….Something I will do next time. In overall I had a really good fun, really  pushing my camera to the limits.

I hope you like this image too, please if you, let me know and give it a thumbs up…

First Day’s Of Carnival

Just came back from city center after an AWESOME day! It has been great to meet some my friends and Sittard 365 fans yo yo! Walking around the city, I have seen some incredible costumes and a lot drunk people having fun! Can’t wait for the big day!!! Gotta catch up with some beers and enjoy this wonderful time. Sittard ROCKS!!!

It looked like a tornado swept through the city leaving it upside down. I wanted to capture that, so that we all have a great memory from this crazy day.

I hope you like this picture! Please if you do leave a comment and give it a thumbs up.

Bergerweg Sittard – On The Way Home

As I was coming back from Gamma, I thought It could be a good idea to stop before the traffic lights and take few exposures from there. It was getting dark pretty quickly and I could easily imagine how this picture will look like at the final. I love this kind of images with light trails stretching across the image. Blending few exposures you can get some amazing colors to pop up and really nail it to your likening. All these lights gives the image an artistic feel and it makes the image/city alive at night. It’s pretty easy to do, you just need a tripod and timer so that it’s rock solid when the camera takes the picture.

I set the camera for f/22 because there was still a lot of light. I had to close the aperture as much as I could to be able to take my shutter speed to 10 sec, 13 sec, or 15 sec exposure. I took few shots to make sure I’ve got in each one enough light trails to work with when blending those images in post. I took 12 images but selected only 3 images which I blend in Photoshop by using mask tool.

It came out really nice. I hope you like this image too, please if you do give it a thumbs up.

St. Peter’s Church With Rainbow

This very unexpected shot with two rainbows came just at the right moment. I was in town whole day taking photos, playing with my camera, doing time lapse videos and just hanging around and enjoying the Sun shining. After three time lapse videos I decided to take a walk around Sittard wall. I came to Fort Sanderbout to the exact same spot as I took 99 picture. The sky was very interesting! I didn’t had time lapse from there yet, so I decided to make one. I set my camera for 5 seconds and let it go. It didn’t take long before huge dark clouds were pouring in. I kept shooting until I saw first signs of rain. I packed everything and quickly headed home. I saw a gap in a distance with clouds breaking out which usually does one very thing. When the Sun comes shining through this gaps and it’s still raining you get the most amazing rainbow ever. I saw the opportunity and I knew I needed to get higher of the ground. I quickly got to a third floor in Bergstraat flats from where I was waiting what’s gonna happen. It was worth every drop that made me soaked. I put my jacket over the camera and lens and kept shooting until the rainbow was gone..Who would ever thought that 2 rainbows will appear…To me a hell of rainbow and a great experience capturing it.

I hope you like this image too, please if you do, let me know and give it a thumbs up

Footbridge In Stadspark

For those who had a chance to enjoy today’s sunrise, good on ya! Great morning with the Sun shining and again painting the scene with it’s golden color. If you got up earlier, you could have seen almost pinkish color all over the sky. Beautiful start of the day! Amazing thing today was to hear birds singing and see some of the flowers growing again. You could tell that spring time is not far away. Also the sunrise is happening earlier now and the days are longer.

I got up early today and went to Stadspark for a walk. There is a newly built park for kids at the end of Mollenweg, so I thought I might check it out. I walked in and immediately saw a spot that would make a great photo. It was too early and the Sun wasn’t up yet, so I decided to wait a bit. I pulled up my Kindle and got into reading for a good hour. When the Sun finally raised from behind the trees I was ready to shoot. I took few exposures. I tried bracketing which suck in Sony NEX 6, but more less I’ve got what I wanted. This was by far one the most relaxing and refreshing morning I had in a long time. I’ve realized that it’s alright to concentrate on one spot at a time rather than try to be all over the place. Of course you can cover much more, but I didn’t care today and It felt amazing. Also I enjoyed to take the photographs in a totally different way.

Anyway, I hope you like this picture, please if you do give it a thumbs up and let me know what you think.

Sittard City Center

Two days ago I went to town to take some nice photographs of the city center. You could see these beautiful forming clouds, going fast across the sky! Perfect for time lapse video! With time lapse you have an advantage.

1) You can choose from any frame and really find your favorite shot.

2) You can choose your shot and create a stunning video.

The best thing is to have 2 cameras, one that is doing time lapse and the second for creative work like long exposures and other things.

This time lapse took about 3 hours and gave me enough photos to create 20 seconds video clip. After 3 hours and my 32 gb card almost full, I went home with a good feeling…You can’t really tell from the picture how beautiful these clouds look in a video, it’s a pleasure to watch it.

I will be doing more of time lapse videos from Sittard as the project continues and then create one huge city promo.

I hope you like this photo, please if you do let me know and give it a thumbs up.
