Sint Rosa-Kapel At Sunrise

I think this is the best place in Sittard not only for a walk but also to try panorama pictures. In my opinion, this chapel has been built on a perfect spot, letting us photographers to do what we know best.

I took one shot from the same spot on the day 49 and have been very satisfied with it. The fact that it was made only from one exposure, kept me occupied with thoughts to come back to this spot and try panorama…Few days ago I went back in the morning just before sunrise and I captured the whole thing. This time I wanted to have a bit of the surrounding too. I think these two roads are big part of what makes this place great. It is really looking like the Sint Rosa-Kapel is standing on a platform as some sort of monument…I love it…

Willow Tree Stadspark

If there was anything more beautiful than the weather and the walk I had today, than I don’t know. I had a plan in the morning not make any plans at all and really chill out! I grabbed my camera, water, something to eat and went to explore few new locations. I went very slow just to appreciate the moment and re-connect with the NATURE…It was great!

When I look at this image I love the lines, the shadows and the tree just standing there with the branches waving in the air. You know when you see something beautiful to the point that you have to stop for a second and enjoy it. Exactly the kind of moment when I saw this tree. Also the Sun works well in this image, highlighting the whole scene. I love it!

I hope you do too, please if you do, let me know and give it a thumbs up…

Beautiful Sunrise – Kollenberg

Limitations live only in our minds.  But if we use our imaginations, our possibilities become limitless. –Jamie Paolinetti

Couldn’t agree more! I’m still learning to control my thoughts that keep me from truly realizing my dreams. Things like I can’t, there is no way, or this is impossible are the main ingredients for dreams to be shattered and never lived. I was a victim of thoughts like that for many years and it really is hard work to get rid of them.

Once you start controlling these thoughts, everything changes. In photography it’s all about connecting your creative juices to go face to face against impossible. There is no space for limitations because every idea has it’s own potential.

Think about how many ideas has been drained because you said to yourself – this is impossible. Every time I have a thought like that, I deliberately push myself into thinking how am I going to make it possible. By killing these limitations, I’ve managed way more to get it done! It seems like I’ve tripled my productivity and it feels like my imagination is expanding everyday.

But anyway, I hope you like this image! It’s one of those times where I’m absolutely happy that I did go to shoot this sunrise…Please give it a thumbs up…

147/365 Sittard Museum Het Domein

Sittard Museum Het Domein

I would never expect that this image is going to take almost 40 minutes to make. The question I was asking myself when taking this picture was, what ISO and aperture should I use and for how long shall I leave the shutter open. I’ve experimented a bit. First I split up the image by concentrating only on the buildings. I started with 25 sec exposure at the ISO 100, f/16, which was good but I wanted to have the image a bit brighter. I ended up doing 35 sec exposure.

When that was out of the way, I moved onto the second part of the image, the sky. The first shot at ISO 100 f/16 and the shutter opened for 40 second wasn’t too bad, but It was lucking a lot. So I went for ISO 400, f/16, 30 sec exposure, ended up with a descent image. The problem was the noise that was making me crazy…I decided to lower the ISO back to 100 and leave the shutter open longer. At the end I did 68 sec exposure which was about as much as I could go without introducing too much of the light noise from the buildings around.

Combining those images in post was an experience by it’s own! I had to do it manually, because the HDR pro was giving me some strange results. By using quick selection tool, mask tool and a bit of patience, I’ve combined those images together. Then I brought it back to Lightroom for further editing.

I think It came out really nice. I hope you like it too, please if you do give it a thumbs up…

146/365 Bergstraat View – Sunset

Bergstraat View – Sunset

This sunset literally came from nowhere! I was editing some other images for this project when I looked outside and saw the sky covered in sunset colors. Probably the last thing I expected to happen. I grabbed my camera, tripod and went outside. As I walked out from the main door, I realized that the colors are fading quickly and the sunset it’s going to be over in few minutes. So I went back, straight to the balcony, set up my tripod and captured those last moments of this beautiful sunset.

Sometimes the nature is so unpredictable that you can hardly tell what is going to happen next. A little gap in cloud formation at the end of the day and you get a spectacular scene revealing in front of you. Luckily I had my camera ready with formatted card and lens cleaned from a previous day. Happy that I didn’t missed it, it would be a disaster…

Sunrise Over The Geleenbeek

Creating My Own Sunrise resized

Here I wanted to show you what’s possible from taking multiple exposures. This image is a combination of -3, -2, -1, 0.0, +1, +2 exposures. By using HDR pro when exporting your image from Lightroom to Photoshop you will get super raw file with much higher dynamic range.

This means that you can be much more creative when it comes to playing with colors, shadows, and highlights.

In this case I wanted to create my own atmosphere. When I was there the Sun was too high to show it’s beautiful colors and the pictures looked a bit hazy.

That’s where the Lightroom and Photoshop shines the most. You can bring an ordinary looking picture to life.

I spent 80% of my editing time in split toning panel in Lightroom and played mostly with the highlights and saturation. The biggest deal was to choose the right color for this image. For the shadows I went for 56 degrees and 18%.

I’m now working on creating video tutorials and a course which is going to be available on a separate website, hopefully soon. I know I’m talking about it for a long time now, but please bear with me as I’m trying to squeeze as much time into it as I can.

I hope you like this image. Please if you do, give it a thumbs up.

144/365 Sunrise View From Librichterstraat

Sunrise View From Librichterstraat

One of the reason why I shoot in the morning is because I like the dynamic range of the captured images. It all happens around the golden hour, also known as the magic hour. At this time of the day, the light source is relatively soft and the shadows longer than in the middle of the day. The images are warmer and I really like the glow that the sunrise creates. It’s the time where you can really enhance your creative juices.

This was by far my favorite morning of all! It was fresh outside and the sunrise created this beautiful atmosphere. Since I started this project I took many pictures from this place. In Autumn, in winter and now few pictures in almost a spring time. Non of the images were so beautiful as this one.

I hope you like it too, please let me know if you do… 🙂

143/365 Millenerweg Stream Waterfall

Millenerweg Stream Waterfall

Today I really wanted to try something else and get very close with my 55-210mm Sony lens. I had couple of ideas that I didn’t do on my first attempt few days ago when I walked to Millenerweg. Today morning, I went there again and took with me the zoom lens. The sunrise was amazing. I waited until the Sun got a little higher for the rays to hit the river, so that I would get the sunrise color on the surface of the water.

As I mentioned in previous posts, I now use HDRpro when exporting from Lightroom to Photoshop to get the highest quality possible in 32bit. The quality of the 32bit super big raw file is noticeably better when you bring it back to Lighroom for further editing. It simply makes a difference.

I wished I had ND filter or graduated filter with me, so that I didn’t need to close the aperture to the max, but even then, I think I did it a good job without it.

In my opinion, this image is really good, at least for me. I hope you like it too. Please if you do give it a thumbs up.

142/365 St. Peter’s Church Panorama

St. Peter’s Church Panorama

Whenever I walked into Kapittelstraat, I was saying to myself that one day I will come here and take a picture of the whole church. From Kapittelstraat you have a great view, almost 180 degrees of this beautiful church. I was excited to find out if I can make it with 16-50mm Sony lens.

Today I was coming back from Kollenberg after a beautiful sunrise and decided to try it out. The light was great and so I set up my tripod, put my camera vertically and looked through the view finder. Surprisingly the tower fit it into the frame. After all measurements, I counted that it’s going to take 13 images to cover the whole church.  First round didn’t work well as two of the images from the sequence were a bit blurry, so I started again…The fifth approach worked perfectly and I even nailed it the panning quite well.

When making panorama, you never know 100% if it’s going to be good or not until you stitch the pictures together. This time I was counting 75% of being successful with this panorama. After basic editing in Lightroom, I send those images to Photoshop. It worked quite well with a small amount of distortion. Not a bit deal to correct it. Then I cropped the image and sent it back to Lightroom for double editing, where I continued with my workflow…In overall It was a great challenge and I definitely learned few things along the way.

I hope you like this image, please if you do then share it with your friends and give it a thumbs up.

141/365 Sunsire From Millenerweg

Sunsire From Millenerweg

What an amazing sunrise! I wasn’t sure where to go today, but then I remembered that Frans sent me a night shot from Salvino, where I have never been before, so I was on my way…I came to Salvino and saw the gate open so I walked in and started taking pictures. Few minutes later I hear some voices in a distance and saw something that looked like a double cheeseburger walking towards me. I knew that I crossed the line here so I packed my stuff and walked away. Amazing place to take photographs I wished I had a permission…

Just few meters from the factory I found this beautiful spot. The steam was coming up from the river, it looked great, so I waited for another 10 minutes before the Sun showed up and took few exposures…I have never been there before so I wasn’t sure if I was still Holland or if I crossed the German border until I walked further and saw German signs. This was by far my favorite walk and I can’t wait to back and take some pictures of De Millenermolen. Have to wait for another AWESOME sunrise!

Hope you like this image, please if you do, let me know and give it a thumbs up… 🙂
