Hills At Puth

There was this beautiful day when I was cycling to Puth and around south of Geleen. I cycled around the village looking for a good spot to take a picture. I saw a bench on the edge of a field…I sat there for a while to take a break and drink a beer. The light was interesting and so I took few images and later have chosen this one for you to enjoy.

I hope you like it, please let me know if you do and give it a thumbs up.

Bridge Over The River

This image was taken on one my recent cycling trips close to Born. Amazing place that I had no idea existed. The path going along the river and it’s built on a dike, which is great because you can see farther in a distance. It’s awesome down there! I found it very relaxing…

I hope you like this image, please if you do let me know.

When I was there for the first time, I have noticed few more places that caught my attention. I was saying to myself that I will come back to take more photos whenever I have another chance. And so I did just recently. I got there when the Sun was getting low, which gave me this wonderful light…Also I like how the trees are cut into the shapes. All whats missing is a huge castle in the background.

Anyways, I hope you like this image…Please if you do give it a thumbs up

Shed At Sunset

Few days ago I cycled around Einighausen village at the golden hour. I wasn’t searching for a spot to take a shot, just cycling around. Then I came to a turn from where I saw this red shed and the Sun reflecting of the window. Also the fields were looking beautiful, so I pulled my camera to take couple of images. I also tried to cover more of the surroundings, so I did a panorama…

Back at home when I was editing these images I first started with those single ones and looked for the details in the image. I was happy with the result, but then I edited the sequence of images for the panorama and liked the details straight away.

I hope you like this panorama too, please if you do let me know and give it a thumbs up.

Highway Lights

I was doing some cycling around Sittard, where I stumble upon this place. It was getting dark and I thought it could be good to take some long exposure photos. Also I’ve got a new lens, the Sigma 19mm so I want to test it. I checked the place from all angles and liked the direct shot the most. I set my camera on a tripod and set the aperture to f/11 at first to determine the shape of the lights. I wanted that starry look of the lights along the highway and I saw that f/11 wasn’t enough in this case so I increased the aperture to f/16 and then f/18…With that I went to longer shutter speed to stretch the lights all across the image. First 10 sec and then 15 worked well.

I like this image and I hope you do too. Please if you do, give it a thumbs up.

Ligne Part 2

First of all I want to say that I confused myself about the picture yesterday and really thought it’s a Maas river…Sorry about that…

I’ve got 2 weeks holidays from tomorrow and because I haven’t done anything crazy since the beginning of the year I’m taking train from Aachen tomorrow, which will take me to Hanover and from there I will cycle north to Hamburg and then continue along the coast to Emden, Groningen, Leeuwarden and then all the way to Zeeland to Vlissingen and then back to Sittard…It’s about 1000 km and I’ve got 13 days, so plenty of time to make it.

I’ve been busy last couple of days taking a lot of pictures so that I could automate the project Sittard 365…From tomorrow, pictures will be automatically posted 9:30pm on Sittard 365 and 9:35pm on Facebook…I hope I’ve done all calculations right and there would not be any problem. If so I’m on the holiday…I should be back 29 Jun…

About the picture today. I wanted to capture the changes that are happening at the site everyday. It’s growing fast! Now they are even further with the construction then on the picture and I took it just few days ago…Have a look how quickly it’s changing…

The Kannal At Sunset

Few days ago I took my bike and went to Geleen to take some pictures. On the way, I changed my plan and later continued all the way to this spot to relax a bit. There are few benches around and so I was just sitting on one of them, watching the sunset setting behind the horizon. Also I was playing with my camera a bit and took this image. I wanted to have a boat in the frame too, but it never came…

Anyway I hope you like this image, please let me know if you do…

Limbricht Castle Panorama

I just finished editing this panorama I took few days ago while cycling to Limbricht. The weather was perfect and I wanted the castle to be the main point of the picture. I like how the castle is built on top of the hill surrounded by water. It just looks great! I hope you like it, please if you do, let me know and give it a thumbs up…

233/365 Ready For World Cup?

Ready For World Cup?

How well are you prepared for the Wold Cup? In some neighborhoods people took it really seriously, decorating their homes and gardens. I had this idea to cycle around some streets and look for the best decorations. Obviously I haven’t been everywhere but I have found some interesting places with flags hanging from windows all the way to whole streets being covered in orange. I picked this pub to not offend anyone by taking a picture of their property.

I’m sure many are watching the first game now and I will be going too…Enjoy this picture and let me know if you like it.

Stadbroekermolen Sittard

Another place that has been in my mind for a long time. Whenever I wanted to go there something would interrupt me and I would end up taking pictures somewhere else. When I came there yesterday, I knew how the shot will look like. I knew where to stand, what will work, and what workflow will I use to make this place look great. I could imagine the whole process.

I prepared the camera for a panorama, turn it vertical and took several images going from left to right. I took 11 images and then I have repated the whole process again with a different aperture. On a first try I was using  -0.3 aperture and on the second one -0.7. This way I was 100% sure that the sky would not be overexposed.

I end up using the -0.7 aperture and loved the sky being perfectly exposed. It’s easier to open up the shadows and correct some of the grains in the image than trying to recover blown up highlights.

I hope you like this image too. Please if you do, let me know and give it a thumbs up.
