Ditch The Tripod

Ditch The Tripod

Ditch the tripod… You don’t need it!

It makes me crazy when I see someone in the middle of the day taking landscape photos with the tripod…

Why would anyone do that?

Especially if you have recent DSLR with stabilization build in. Or lens that can handle your shaky hands.

Like the other day when I was walking to Kollenberg. There was a guy shooting the surroundings with his Canon Mark 3 and Manfroto tripod…

Right in the middle of the day…

I mean, come on…

Shooting in the middle of the day sucks anyway… and using tripod? (laughing)

It becomes a snap shot. I can take better photo with my phone and without tripod.

Landscape photography is all about the atmosfere, light and the composition.Shooting in the middle of the day it’s just boring.

I told this guy to ditch the tripod…

As long as you don’t go below 1/50s, you should be perfectly fine.

I often think of it as three leg monster that could be used as a hanger for your dirty clothes.

If you understand the dynamic range, then you don’t need the tripod.

Anyway…

Ever heard about Frans Lanting, the National Geographic photographer?

He’s got an interesting opinion about it in his training called “The Art Of Seeing”…

Check it out if you want to learn more about it.

He goes into details and some of the tips he shares are simply amazing.

Anyway…

Here is where you get it…

All the best…

P.S. Watch it… learn from it… and send me some photos… Would love to see what you’ve been up to.

P.P.S. There is no way I would carry heavy tripod with me on a bike trip. Never. There is no reason for that if you know what Frans is teaching in his course.

You’ll do great without it. No sweat my friend.
